Emo Prince

Awww Emo Prince for Lori. I am always saddened by how crappy the silver pen and the iridescence scans.... I really like this one. Heck... I've liked all of these I have done. I hope they do. Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!!

Ho ho Ho

Merry Christmas Wes! Look what was finished to bring to you tomorrow. I am a little sad about the border but it was because as I gilded the edges the pen slipped and marked the card MARKED IT!! *sob* and the iridescence does not scan AT ALL. But that is the glory of natural medium!

Currently

This was a Customer Appreciation card for Bobby who is my best customer. Seriously.

I always like to draw Tetin. I rarely like to draw me. One of those statements is a lie.

I had an idea for a series called "The Perils of Pirates." I am keeping it in my head but I think it needs a lot more thought.

Oh Scarecrow... And I didn't love you most of all! I find the Scarecrow to be incredibly creepy. An animated bunch of sticks and straws with what should have been an unchanging expression and a craving to have a brain.... Terrifying. And in the movie when the monkeys rip him apart.... How is that not absolutely terrifying??

All my little joys <3

I finally recieved my membership to the LWA (Letter Writers Alliance) http://www.16sparrows.com/LWA/ and I put my name in for the pen pal swap. I can't wait. I have always wanted a pen pal and no one whenever I moved away has ever kept up a correspondence with me. I am crazy excited.

Got to have dinner with and see a lot of people from work who were let go (cursed economy!) whom I really miss a lot. Thank goodness for little Collin's birthday. <3

I got my Starfighter print finally from DA. Yeah!!!

I got a lot done on my projects today, thank goodness because every day feels more and more like molassas.

I know exactly what I will be making for A-kon. A couple of illustraion books: Fairytales, Movies, and if I can an issue of Security.

My shenanigans table. <3 Oh how I love you my little shenanigans!!!

Sketches and an EXPERIMENT

My Security characters. Well the main trio anyways. Agatha, Lan, and Mu. Mu looks cranky as usual and that always makes me happy. Lan I am still striving for consistency with. For some reason he is really hard for me to capture every time. His sort of shell-shocked look.
Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. How I drew them here I keep thinking... They could date... They could so totally date... Maybe I will do a storybook about it.
Oh Algernon. I so totally experimented on your gangly ass. What I tried was I markered him up in grey tones and then went back over him with my colored markers (which I have very few of). It was not a total disaster! But it also was not the look I wanted necessarilly. So.. SIGH... I'll try again but at least this didn't turn out bad. I will say tho that that Deco Peach is like way more intense than it was when I bought it. And... I hate markering on Bristol Board. It is god awful. GOD AWFUL!

It's a human skull on the ground

The turnaround I gave Lori. I think it will be good because his arms are down? Seems like that is a good thing from what I have heard....

Her Royal Painness

The Princess Cecily. She's horribly forward and knows what she wants. Pity she's too tall and Algernon won't have a thing to do with her.

Foe Alchemists

Gyptia is my favorite. :| Briala is not pictured cuz her redesign is taking me time...

Algernon expressions

Still like his redesign. He's sassy with his guitar pic shaped head!

… Free shit.

70. Is there anything out there that makes you wish the internet didn't exist?

How high's the water papa?

Algernon's in some shit. Sea monster, flesh eating mermaids... Why would a displacement stone take him there??? IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DEADLY OCEAN!!!

Oh what the hell ever

Algernon's new look. Not that his outfit changed at all or anything or his hair really or his general expression of bored superiority but... The way I draw him has changed. I will do some expressions next. Pencil in sketchbook, inked with the sassy and delicious Pilot 2-way that Kristen sent me and then some mauve shadow added to taste. The cat is a transformed princess. Lori said she'd model him if she coudl use him for animation class. 8D I am very excited!!!

Tonight I also framed my absolutely beautiful Rock God Opera postcard set. To keep it an even 8 I even framed the info card that came with them. I think they turned out rather nice and now I don't know if I will haul them in to work to keep up with my beautifying or if I will hang them here. <3 Either way it has to wait till I get some hanging wire for the back!

Leftovers

Well... I have a lot of these left. The art in my sketchbooks will never appear on the web so the only way to see any of this groundwork is to buy a sketchbook. $10 and that includes the mailing costs. <3>

Fancrafts! Yay!

My little woodball Patapon with his wire arms and paper helmet. The pennant is paper too and was pure hell to get glued to the wire! But he now stands atop a cup at work and keeps me pon pon pata pon!

Thank you Metroid Hat for the awesome how-to! My new little pal Experiment 01 (ExpyUno) thanks you too! Hand sewn out of fleece, he is jolly and very squishy! Squishy!!!! <3

Fisticuff: Duck Tales

What I wanted to do with this is... I dunno. I got more of the old time-y illustration look I wanted thanks to the brush I made back working on El Tigre DS. The BG is from the show filtered all to hell and worked over. Launchpad looks weird. I wish this was Darkwing. He was so much awesomer. I dunno why I went with these weird egg shapes. This whole thing seems so un-me but me. I dunno. I like their skinny legs. Me and the pen tool in photoshop are enjoying dating each other and making out constantly. Loads of fun to make something cleaner than I could by hand. Damn twitchy nerves. :| Damn John Lowe pointing it out. *Sigh* Not excited at all about A-kon anymore. Most retarded bullshit ever.

Fisticuff: The Shadow!

The Shadow!! I know he looks way different than his uber cool self this way but I enjoyed making this because my brother Bill is a massive Shadow fanboy. So I pushed extra effort into this because I want to print it up nice for him.
I've gone ultra cartoony at ties thanks to working on the El Tigre DS game. I think that really brought me around to the love of just shapes and an ability to let go of my need for obsessive detal. I feel like an old school vampire and their counting only mine was all about detail. I have to have this pattern and this and the hands would be so and a indent for the knuckles and so on... I am free! I really love it too, it's so much fun.
I retraced and remade the shadow logo from an old pulp novel. I hope my brother likes it!!

Sketchbooks!

Can you tell I am excited? <3

Paid the money and got their innards printed so I need to get all the covrs printed up!! I think I will lighten te inside a little, lots of brightness. 5 bright bright colors like candy yay!

28 pages! fun fun fun!!!

Urgh...

Life is too expensive... Especially when you are on the sketch-crack. I bought more sketchbooks. Yes. I have to stop. Why can't I stop... Admitting you have a problem never solves it because it doesn't stop you wanting it. Wanting more sketches... It's a sad addiction. As bad as comics... Worse than heroine.

Also I am in love with the vulcanologist on the Discovery channel spot....

So much I did fanart.... :T

Ken Riley on Color

"We all possess both intuitive and educated color senses. These work together to create a personal use and response to color composition. The play of one color against another can also carry the eye throughout the composition and thereby create movement."

I find color theory absolutely fascinating but... I am stank horrible at it really. So I find this idea that I have an intuitive one and a learned one absolutely startling. Everything I do is bright, bright like candy except when it's not. There is no real method to my madness. No choices. I just start out and do what feels right, what looks good. And that's why my stuff looks like crap I guess.

Sketchbook *8

Hey kids! A-Kon is just around the corner! And that means SKETCHBOOOOOKS!

Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!

That is the cover and on the inside of it I have left a special little spot where for extra I can do a con sketch for you! Black and white only and for just $3-$5 more! Yay!
I am going to have that and a few other surprises to hock to the rubes. I hope! Yarrr!

The Sketchbook will contain ONLY art you have not seen anywhere else from me. Cuz I mean how pointless is it to buy a book full of stuff you can save off the internets for free. So! The only way you get this stuff is to buy it from me. Har Har!

Now I just hope someone buys one!

A sneak peek to give lie to the "only what you have not seen anywhere else" thing.

More from the Fight Club

What I'm trying to get out of these fight club pieces are different looks and styles and not to mention a whole, complete picture. Not the usual here is portrait of so and so, here is colored picture of character. But a whole complete illustration. I never do that so I wanted to make myself, on these at least, do that.

Snow White
What I wanted to get out of this one was a "retro" feel. I got that but I missed the one I was aiming for entirely. This of course makes me sad but the image itself makes me happy which is why it was allowed to stay the way it is. I am really into simplification and shapes lately. And yeah, she totally looks Jetsons!

Musashi
What I wanted to get out of this one was an ink painting sort of feel which rapidly disappeared once I started seriously working on it. I think the only way I will ever get a sumi-e feel is to actually sit down and use my sumi ink and get over mr. computer's omnipresence in my life. The background is a heavilly altered and filtered photo, the stars are a brush I made with blur! And he himself looks like an ultra-gloss toki-doki reject. But... I like my composition and I like his shiny head. I also really like how I did the glints on the swords. Gotta keep that in my mental know-how book!

My Mom is AWESOME

My Mom, circa her childhood. She's in her Arabian girl Halloween costume. Striking how much she looks like the T-word that I will not bandy about here in text but will think loudly at you to say, what does she look like to you? A Nebraska T-word. Hells yes. My mom can take you all out - that is how pure awesome she is. I love her and I learned everything from her like she was Sarah Connor. So...

LOOK OUT MAN!!

Mocking Collin.

Stop living in a fake room Collin. :D Marvel at my ARTpartment!!!!!

I had actually taken these to show my mom the new art added to my walls. :)

Not a Sketch Post... Again

Instead it's a frilled kitty!!! This is Tibet in her fun collar to keep her from ripping out her stitches after being "fixed." She gets around in it really good though so don't pity her too much.

Vicious Frilled Kitty Attack!!!
